Name a car manufacturer that has never had a factory convertible. I bet there is more than one and one in particular is still in business.
Here is a white Chrysler labaron, traded in my MG for it.

Fisker...and dare I say I can’t think of an Acura convertible. Targa, yes, not convertible, though.

Tesla? Pretty much all the companies that have been in business since the 50s and 60s are out. Everybody made convertibles then.
![]() 04/27/2019 at 00:13 |

Which one?
![]() 04/27/2019 at 00:13 |

The consumer brand.

Autozam.

Acura, I didn’t think of that. Honda has the s2000.
![]() 04/27/2019 at 00:18 |

It would have to be a newer brand, or truck only, or very low volume.
Ram comes t o mind but what about Subaru?
![]() 04/27/2019 at 00:18 |

OH OH OH. Hyundai/Kia. might have had a couple of concepts, but nothing produciton I think.

NSX was sold as acura in some parts...do targa tops count?

Deawoo , Hyundai, kia?
![]() 04/27/2019 at 00:28 |

XLR would probably be a hard top convertible.
![]() 04/27/2019 at 00:29 |
|
Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. They were targa top but not ‘vert
![]() 04/27/2019 at 00:37 |

Subaru.

If we’re counting targa-tops, then no. The Vivio T-Top went topless.

But for real, the first gen Sportage came with the option of a half canvas top. Not sure if this is really a convertible, though
![]() 04/27/2019 at 00:56 |

1989-1991 Dodge Dakota Sport Convertible. ASC Conversion, but a “factory” option.
![]() 04/27/2019 at 00:57 |

Ford Australia made the Mercury Capri/ford capri
![]() 04/27/2019 at 00:58 |

First gen Kia Sportage was offered with a canvas top over the back seats (think Bronco style) from the factory.

Mitsuoka made this thing, so I guess they’re out.

Just popping in to give props for the Cake reference.
As for the question at hand, the first answer that comes to mind would be Subaru. I don’t recall them ever making a drop-top.

Lexus?
![]() 04/27/2019 at 02:50 |

IIRC, the early Subaru 360’s offered a convertible to reduce prices.

I forgot about that one
My bad

The ones I can think of:
Alpine
FSO
Perodua
Iran Khodro - I don’t think there has been a convertible in their very varied history.
Proton (owning L otus doesn’t count)
DS/Cupra (partially cheating as they are sub brands of manufacturers that have. Seat have only made one a long time ago )
A riel- it doesn’t have a convertible roof so I’m counting it.
Polestar/ Lynk & sons of Burford as they are still too new.
I think the convertible Gilberns are aftermarket. They look like it.
Tata (JLR doesn’t count)
Probably a zillion other manufacturers from China or similar that I can’t think of.

I think most of the Chinese manufacturers haven’t, at least the mainstream ones. I can’t think of a convertible car manufactured by GAC or Dongfeng for instance, not even the partnered models.
I could however name one that does: Geely. They own Volvo and Lotus.

In the late 50's you were required by law to produce convertibles in the US

I know about the Lotus based thingie. Is the rear window fixed? If so it is a targa not a convertible, I am having no luck with Google trying to answer this important question.

Kinja chooses its battles wisely. ;P

The word is “had”. Holden didn’t manufacture it but they did offer convertibles. They “had” convertibles ;)

Skoda perhaps? They’re a maybe.
Fisker ;)
Tata perhaps, but they’re such a big company...who knows.
Great Wall? Nobody really knows what these companies offer in China.
